How to Have a Happy Friday

This week has been a long one which means I'm extra excited that today is Friday. Here's why I'm having a happy Friday:

1. Starbucks
I took a trip to the Starbucks I work at this morning to grab a chocolate croissant and a venti Valencia Orange Refresher with light ice and lemonade instead of water (my absolute favorite). Why is this significant? I worked with a girl last night who was on cash register during my trip today. Figuring she knew who I was cause we worked together last night, I said hi and proudly announced my order and name. I got my cup back and it said Haley instead of Bailey. This served as a great laugh of the day.

2. Girlfriend by Icona Pop
Perhaps the happiest, most fun song I've ever heard and a great way to instantly be in a good mood, this song came on shuffle today and boosted my mood even more. I first heard this song in our recruitment video (which you can watch here) and it quickly became one of my favorites. Definitely holds a spot on my Friday playlist!

3. Cuddle with a cute kitten
I'm lucky enough to have roommates that have cats so I don't have to take care of them but then I still get the cuddles!

4. Birthday
This doesn't apply to everyone but my birthday is on Monday so I get to celebrate my birthday with Trevor and his family as well as my family so that's something to be excited about!

Enjoy your friday!

Two Favorites: Fall and JMU

As we're rounding the corner from summer into fall, I want to take the time to note how blessed I am to get to experience fall in a place as beautiful as JMU. I always know in the back of my mind that JMU is beautiful but I don't always take the time to stop and enjoy it. But as I was leaving my history discussion this morning, I realized that this is my second of four short fall seasons that I get to have in this perfect place. This morning was the perfect mix of warm and cool and I stopped and took a second to look at the quad and the trees starting to turn and I know that I've been so blessed to be able to call a place this wonderful my home.

The picture above was not taken by me unfortunately but follow @jmulove on Instagram for beautiful shots of my great school!

Why Phi Mu?

I thank God everyday that I go to a school that I am completely in love with. I also thank God everyday for giving me 200 sisters that I couldn't live without. I'm blessed to have a Phi Mu family that means just as much to me as my blood family and friends that I know I'll be close with forever. I'm thankful to have a big who is pursuing her dreams in DC. I'm thankful that I have a best friend like Kayla.

I'm SO HAPPY to have a new pledge class that will be the awesome future of Phi Mu and who we're all obsessed with because frankly they're all beautiful and perfect. I'm blessed to have endless hugs and laughs and encouragement when times get tough. I'm thankful for sassiness and funny faces.

I'm thankful for every one of my sisters and the fact that I'm a part of an organization that will help me grow as a person and create bonds that will last a lifetime. People bash sororities all of the time but they don't understand. "It's not about changing who you are, it's about being who you've always been."

"If I paid for my friends then I didn't pay nearly enough."
